Stalmine-with-Staynall Parish Council news

Bus route change

Councillors discussed a proposal that the 2c bus route to Knott End should be diverted off Lancaster Road down Pilling Lane in the interests of those attending the medical centre. While acknowledging the potential benefit, they suggested a similar arrangement to that in Pilling, where a double loop operates, thereby preventing the loss of the service further along Lancaster Road.

Bus shelter

A new bus shelter has now been erected at the junction of Stricklandís Lane and Moss Side Lane.

Dog exercise plan

A suggestion that the council establish a dog exercise area similar to that in Hambleton was discounted. Unfortunately, the council does not hold land that would be suitable and lacks the resources to lease land for that purpose.

Tree work project

A councillor is to seek information on costs for the most urgent tasks at Stalmine Wood identified in a recent report by Wyre's tree officer. A formal plan of action will be agreed when the financial implications are known.

Audit approved

The council is pleased to report a clean audit - its latest accounts have been officially approved without reservations or queries by the external auditor.
