Would you like to become a Councillor for Stalmine-with-Staynall Parish Council?

The parish council is seeking to fill a potential vacancy on Stalmine-with-Staynall Parish Council by co-option. Anyone co-opted will hold office until the fourth day after the ordinary election of parish councillors in May 2027 at which point, they can apply to be formally elected through the democratic process.

Councillors have asked that anyone wishing to apply for the vacancy provide a short letter of application to the clerk. This should outline why you want to become a councillor and what you would bring to the council.

Councillors contribute to the work of the council by having a say about the things they care about; putting forward ideas for better services; responding to the needs and views of their residents; seeking the best outcomes for local issues; getting involved in decision-making by voting and accepting the corporate view of the council. The council usually meets on the second Tuesday evening every month with meetings normally lasting about two hours
